Volunteer Opportunity: Help Make Commencement Special

Dear PNW Faculty and Staff,
Commencement is right around the corner, and we’re reaching out to ask for your help in making the day a smooth, welcoming and memorable experience for our graduates and their guests.
We’re looking for volunteers to assist with various guest and candidate support roles on Saturday, May 10 (with an adverse weather date of Sunday, May 11). Volunteers will primarily be needed from 8 to 10:30 a.m., ahead of the 10 a.m. ceremony.
Our Commencement ceremony is held outdoors on the Hammond campus, in the area south of the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building. Details about Commencement are available at the Commencement Ceremony Day-of Guide.
Roles Include
- Directing guests from parking areas to the venue
- Answering questions and offering general guidance
- Assisting guests in finding seating within the venue
For our non-exempt (overtime-eligible) staff, hours worked will be paid and charged to the Commencement account, so there is no cost to your department.
We will also offer a volunteer briefing on Friday, May 9 in the Commencement venue to walk through responsibilities and answer any questions. While attendance at the briefing is encouraged, it is not required in order to volunteer.
Volunteers are warmly invited to stay for the ceremony and cheer on our graduates. Your presence makes a difference and adds to the supportive, celebratory atmosphere that means so much to our students and their families.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out our Spring 2025 Commencement volunteer form.
Thank you in advance for considering this opportunity to support our graduates and their families on such a special day. Your help truly makes a difference!
