Vice Chancellor Winders selected for AGB Institute leadership program
Timothy Winders, assistant vice president for Distributed Campus Services and Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) for Purdue system-wide and vice chancellor for Information Services at Purdue University Northwest (PNW), is one of 21 higher education administrators selected for the 2024-25 cohort of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) Institute for Leadership and Governance in Higher Education.
The Institute is a six-month engagement, starting September 2024, for aspiring and current university presidents. Cohort members will participate in two rigorous symposiums and four interactive online workshops, as well as a shadowing experience with a sitting university president. Cohort members gather a host of collective knowledge from over 30 higher education presenters, including current and former presidents, trustees, search consultants and other sector professionals. The Institute additionally fosters networking among higher education administrator peers.
“I am really excited to experience the journey,” said Winders. “There are prestigious people in the cohort. I look forward to being able to bring my Information Technology background to share a different voice and perspective and enrich our conversations, as well as meet people outside of the IT world and broaden my understanding of what it means to be a leader in higher education. I believe leadership and professional development is a lifelong pursuit that never ends.”
In 2023 Winders earned his Ph.D. in Technology, Leadership and Innovation from Purdue West Lafayette.
Over 20 past AGB Institute participants have transitioned to president and chancellor roles at higher education institutions.
