Lead Babies & Poisoned Housing: A Conversation with Carolyn Boiarsky

Join us for an in-depth presentation and Q&A with Carolyn R. Boiarsky, author of “Lead Babies and Poisoned Housing: Environmental Injustice, Systemic Racism, and Governmental Failure”.

This powerful book draws on historical research and firsthand interviews to tell the story of the 2016 lead poisoning crisis in East Chicago, Indiana, where minority residents were forcibly evicted due to toxic soil contamination. Dr. Boiarsky highlights the failure of federal agencies to protect vulnerable communities while sharing stories of empowerment and resilience from residents who fought for justice.
