The Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest (PNW) was recently awarded a local Community grant from the Walmart Foundation to support its mission to drive economic and community development in Northwest Indiana through innovation. The grant will be used to organize a free workshop in the Portage, Ind. community.

The Society of Innovators is partnering with the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce to host Rise, Shine and Share Portage from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 12 at its headquarters located at 6100 Southport Road, Portage, Ind.

Free and open to the public, Rise, Shine and Share Portage offers Portage Chamber members and others in the community the opportunity to share ideas, business strategies and successes, and to exchange business referrals.

The Society of Innovators will facilitate a short educational activity to help attendees practice the Design Thinking mindset. “It will be a rapid-fire, but fun session designed to get everyone working together to build and test their designs with an emphasis on radical collaboration,” said Sheila Matias, executive director of the Society of Innovators. “Participants will learn some new secrets about teamwork and walk away equipped to facilitate collaboration-building exercises within their own organizations.”

Continental breakfast and coffee will be provided. Those wishing to attend may call Jason Williams at (219) 989-2805, or register online at: https://riseshineandsharesoi.eventbrite.com
