A Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for more than 30 years, Steve Wozniak has helped shape the computing industry with his design of Apple’s first line of products the Apple I and II. In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. The Apple II was integral in launching the personal computer industry. For his achievements at Apple, Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the President of the United States in 1985, the highest honor bestowed on America’s leading innovators. In December 2020 Wozniak launched his company Efforce, which aims to use cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to make it cheaper and easier for companies to fund green projects.

Although our last two Sinai Forum seasons have been unlike any other in our 68-year history, the forum has strengthened its ability to withstand change and now offers hybrid programming, allowing subscribers to watch in-person or remotely on their own devices,” said Leslie Plesac, executive director of Sinai Forum. “In keeping with our mission, the forum continues to enlighten, inspire, and entertain our friends, community members, subscribers, and students — in the way that works best for them.

Urschel Laboratories, Inc., the global leader in food cutting technology based in Chesterton, Ind., is sponsoring the program featuring Wozniak.

As an employee-owned company, Urschel Laboratories’ CEO Rick Urschel says they share the forum’s vision of bringing together a diverse and interesting array of speakers in an intimate setting.

“When I think of Steve Wozniak, I think of innovation, creativity and simplicity,” said Urschel. “In many ways, that’s how Urschel Laboratories became the global leader in our industry. When we had the opportunity to hear from Wozniak on how his ideas changed the way we do business, we immediately wanted to help so people could hear him tell his story.”

“We are excited to bring Steve Wozniak and are most grateful for the generosity of Urschel Laboratories to make it possible,” said Plesac.

The patron reception at the Wozniak program is sponsored by the Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest. Patron-level tickets are required to attend this reception.
