Ideas & Resources for using One Book, One University with your Students and Colleagues

August 15, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

REGISTER TO ATTEND

Are you considering using the 2023-2024 One Book, One University text in your teaching this year? Are you interested in facilitating a book club or discussions with your colleagues?  What Happened to You? (by Dr. Bruce Perry and Oprah Winfrey) is a powerful and insightful book that provides a unique perspective on trauma, healing, and resilience, making it a valuable resource for fostering meaningful discussions across disciplines and departments. Please join us for this brief workshop, idea exchange, and Q&A on creative ways to use this book as both a learning and listening tool. Strategies will be shared to create a safe and inclusive space to engage students, staff, and faculty in thought-provoking discussions and empower them to recognize and address the impact of trauma in their lives and society. Discussion guides and resources to support your use of the book will be shared.

The session will be facilitated by Dr. Amanda Zelechoski, Professor of Psychology and Founding Director of Clinical Training; Dr. Richard Rupp, Chair of the OBOU Initiative; and, Dr. Emily Hixon, Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence.
