PNW student leaders honored at annual Chancellor’s Ball

Several Purdue University Northwest (PNW) students and student organizations were recognized for their on-campus leadership, accomplishments and impact during the 2023-24 academic year at PNW’s second annual Chancellor’s Ball.
The PNW Chancellor’s Ball is a spring tradition where outstanding student leadership and service to the campus community are recognized.
A selection committee comprised of members from the offices of Admissions, Dean of Students, Student Life and Honors College reviewed peer nominations for standout undergraduate and graduate students and their student organizations.
Honorees were recognized in nine different categories:
- Outstanding New Initiative Award: SOMOS PNW
- Community Impact Award: Westville Warriors
- Diversity Achievement Award: Alpha Psi Lambda
- “Comeback Kid” Award: Biology Club
- “I’m Powering Onward” Award: Savannah Benitez
- Program of the Year Award: Indian Student Association at Purdue Northwest
- Student Organization Advisor of the Year: Deanne Shimala
- Student Organization Leader of the Year: Ben Ayon and Kaitlyn Vasilko (co-winners)
- Student Organization of the Year: Finance and Accounting Club
