Michael Zimmer

Introduction

Michael Zimmer is currently an associate professor in Purdue University Northwest’s Department of Biological Sciences. He teaches introductory, upper-division and graduate-level courses in microbiology and immunology. His lab is focused on studying CD1-restricted lipid-reactive T cells.

Research Overview

Professor Zimmer’s lab has a number of collaborative research projects with faculty in the department including:

  • Studying bacterial pathogenesis with PNW professor Lindsay Gielda
  • Exploring the microbial ecology of the built environment with PNW professor Scott Bates
  • Defining the immunomodulatory effects of cannabinoids on immune cells with PNW professor Radmila Sarac Stanic
