Lindsay M. Gielda, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Biological Sciences

Lindsay Gielda

Introduction

Gielda is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences. Her research and teaching focus is in the field of medical microbiology and immunology, with an emphasis in molecular biology.

Research Overview

Professor Gielda’s area of research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria, and microbial factors that lead to transmittance between hosts. Recent research utilizes Serratia marcescens as a model organism, an opportunistic nosocomial pathogen with robust intrinsic and developed antimicrobial resistance.
