Chuck Winer

Introduction

Charles (Chuck) Winer is professor emeritus and past department head in the Computer Information Technology and Graphics (CITG) Department at Purdue University Northwest. He joined the faculty of the university in 1983.

Research Overview

Professor Winer has published several articles in industry journals, presented papers at national and international conferences, been an invited keynote speaker at the Fifth World Multiconference on Systemics, Cybernetics, and Informatics/Information Systems Analysis and Synthesis (SCI/IASAS) conference in Orlando, Florida. His topic was “Internet, E-Commerce & Database Methods.”

He was also an invited speaker at the International Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics, and Informatics (ICSCI), held in Hyderabad, India as he presented his research on “Shared Interactive Human Services Databases – Implications for the Future.”

Previous Roles

Over the course of his university career, Professor Winer has been elected twice as the Chair of the Faculty Senate. His professional experience includes over forty years of information systems consulting as principal/owner of Winfo Data Systems.

Community Outreach

Professor Winer has presented several information technology seminars (Introduction to Computers, Using Computer Applications, Computer Internet Security, Introduction to Word for Beginners, Introduction to Google Docs, and Intermediate Google Docs) at the Houston Texas Harris County Spring Branch Memorial Library. He currently volunteers teaching computer skills to residents of the Houston Texas area at the West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM).

He has been quoted in the Post-Tribune (Northwest Indiana newspaper) and has been a guest of the local public television station (WYIN) in Northwest Indiana.
