One of Our Own Wins Award at Founders Day
The Annual Founders Day Celebration is not only a time to celebrate an important day in Purdue Northwest’s history, but also a day to honor those who have excelled in their service to Purdue Northwest. The Department of History & Philosophy’s Administrative Assistant, Beth Simac, has excelled in her work and gone beyond the call of duty. She was recognized as the “Outstanding Clerical Staff of the Year” at the Founders Day Celebration, and there is truly no one more deserving of the distinction.
Beth has been with Purdue Northwest for five years. She started her career at PNW as a Travel Auditor in the Travel Center. In June of 2017, she joined the Department of History & Philosophy as the Administrative Assistant taking over for Sue Schultz. Department Chair and Professor of History, Dr. Kathy Tobin, summed up Beth’s contributions, saying, “Beth is key to the operation and success of our department. She does marketing, event planning, room scheduling, and appointment coordinating. She is always friendly and welcoming to anyone that comes into the History office. She greets them with a warm smile. Her efforts have helped to grow enrollment in our department.”
Dr. Tobin’s words ring true as Beth has worked hard to give the Department of History & Philosophy more identity in the time she has been here. Whether it is helping a student, assisting faculty, or planning a big event, Beth is always ensuring satisfaction and getting the job done. Beth says, “I’m both honored and humbled to win this award. I’m fortunate to work for Dr. Tobin and the Department of History & Philosophy. It’s a supportive and positive environment.”
Everyone in the Department of History & Philosophy would like to extend their congratulations to Beth. Without question, she has been vital to the success of the department and we are the ones who are honored and humbled to have her as a part of this team. Congratulations Beth, you deserve this award, and so much more!
