Title IX and Sexual Assault
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities.
Title IX serves to better protect students, faculty, and staff from incidents of sex-based discrimination and sexual harassment including sexual violence, sexual exploitation, relationship violence, and stalking.
Laura Odom is the Title IX Coordinator at Purdue Northwest (Hammond and Westville campuses) and is responsible for ensuring compliance with Title IX, including overseeing all complaints of sex discrimination (including sexual violence, sexual exploitation, relationship violence, and stalking) and identifying and addressing any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of such complaints.
If you experienced sexual assault, relationship violence, sexual exploitation or stalking, please contact the Title IX Coordinator immediately. They can provide help and support.

Mandatory Reporters
While the University encourages all campus community members to report incidents of harassment or discrimination, if you are designated by the University as a Mandatory Reporter, you are required to report any Title IX violations to the Title IX Coordinator on your campus immediately. Whether you personally observe the incident or it has been reported to you by another party, you must report any incidents of sexual harassment (including sexual violence, sexual exploitation, relationship violence, and stalking) to your Title IX Coordinator.
Additionally, Mandatory Reporters are required to complete on-line training annually. Please contact the office of Institutional Equity for questions regarding your training.
