Connecting Youth To Health Careers
NWI AHEC helps students, in grades 8-12, in underserved communities, explore careers in health care and prepare for college.
In Class – Health Profession Presentations
NWI AHEC serves as a resource for high schools and youth organizations. The team is available to facilitate presentations and activities to encourage students to learn more about health careers, college readiness, science and health.
Teaching Models
NWI AHEC has teaching demonstration models and instructional resources available for faculty and students to borrow. The teaching models are available for no cost and cover topics such as cancer, dental, disease states, drugs and alcohol, nutrition, smoking and tobacco, and sex education.
Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA)
NWI AHEC helps to sponsor students, in underserved and rural areas, participate in HOSA competitions. HOSA, a national student organization, provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for students who are interested in or pursuing a career in the health professions.
Project Lead the Way
NWI AHEC helps to sponsor Project Lead the Way, in rural areas, that will help broaden students’ experiences in health sciences. Project Lead the Way is an advanced class taught in high schools that engage students, through hands-on activities related to many different health careers. These activities build upon their in class curriculum.
