Modules

The PNW CMS implementation leverages modules as the primary method for creating and managing content. This section explains the different types of modules and which modules are available on the main page templates.

Types of Modules

There are dozens of available modules within the PNW CMS implementation including:

• Templates that are populated directly on the page.
• References to centrally maintained and reusable content types that are chosen for display on the page.
• References to images and video within the media library that are selected for display on the page.
• Dynamic modules that retrieve and display content based on assigned categories or tags.
• Advanced or technical modules that allow for code to be embedded on the page. These modules should only be used by system administrators.

Module Availability

Each page template in the CMS has a layout with defined regions. The available modules vary from region to region.

Modules for the main region of the Standard Template
The Standard template is the most widely used template in the CMS and the main region has a variety of modules to make robust pages.

Modules for the sidebar region of the Standard Template
The sidebar region has a limited number of modules that supplement the main content on the page or draw attention to key features or calls to action.

Modules for the full-width region of the Standard Template
The full-width region includes a number of optional modules that appear at the bottom of the Standard template. These modules are used to present information in more visual ways, surface related content or reinforce key calls to action.

Modules for the Full-Width Template
The Full-Width template is designed with optimal flexibility and is intended to be used for marketing-critical pages including section landing pages and academic program pages. The modules on this template offer options for presenting content in visually appealing ways that are less text-heavy.
