Applications for Spring ’21 Professional Development Awards Now Open

MaPSAC Professional Development Awards help PNW employees remain current and up-to-date on trends and skills while helping to further employee careers.

Applications can be found on the MaPSAC website. Applications will remain open through 11:59 p.m. CST on April 30, 2021.

Application Requirements

The online application requires:

  • Application information, including current job title and responsibilities
  • Activity information, including date(s) and location
  • Estimated funding information
  • Description or list of anticipated activity expenditures
  • Description of how the activity will enhance your professional development
  • Supervisor contact information
  • Applicant electronic signature (typing your name in the identified space is the electronic equivalent of a hand-written signature)

Eligibility

  • Management, Professional or grandfathered Op Tech staff of .50 FTE or greater may receive a MaPSAC award once every three years
  • The recipients must be a Purdue Northwest employee at the time of the development activity and reimbursement
  • The recipient must be a Purdue Northwest employee at the time of the development activity and reimbursement
  • Applicants must work at one of the Purdue Northwest campuses or Gabis Arboretum.
  • Costs incurred during the one-year award period are eligible
  • Spring award is for professional development activity from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021
  • Award may fund a single even or supplemental course work over a one-year period
  • A maximum of two employees per department may receive funding for the same development activity.  The applications must be submitted separately
  • MaPSAC members are not eligible

Examples of Successful Grant Applications

Examples of funded grants include but are not limited to:

  • Professional education or certification
  • Attendance at lectures, conferences and seminars
  • Tuition assistance for academic classes

The maximum award amount is $750

Notification

A letter of notification will be sent to all applicants approximately six weeks after the grant application deadline.  If awarded, information regarding how to request your reimbursement will be provided in this letter.  Award recipient notifications will also go to the awardee’s supervisor and business office.

Expense Reimbursement

Stay tuned for more information on how grant recipients request reimbursement. The maximum grant is $750.  The MaPSAC committee reserves the right to adjust award amounts to accommodate a larger number of qualified applicants.  Taxes on expenses will not be reimbursed.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify whether the grant is taxable income.
