Hispanic-Serving Institution Designation
I am pleased to share significant news that Purdue University Northwest has earned official designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). This designation makes PNW the largest HSI in the state of Indiana.
I am tremendously proud that PNW has earned this designation and now represents our metropolitan region and Indiana as the Purdue University system’s first Hispanic-Serving Institution. It is central to our institutional mission and strategic plan to provide a high-quality academic and learning environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive of all students and their backgrounds.
I would like to thank Elizabeth Babcock Depew, vice chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and Iris Sanchez, director of Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiatives, for their roles in facilitating the expansion of our outreach efforts to Latino families for the last several years that helped lead us to this official designation. I thank all faculty and staff for your continued commitment to creating fulfilling experiences and providing support and resources for all PNW students.
Today the university issued a news release announcing this milestone designation. Please read the full story on our website.
