What is #PNWDayofGiving?

Purdue Northwest Day of Giving is the largest day-long online fundraising event for the university. During this event, for 24 hours, students, alumni, faculty, staff and community come together to create opportunities for PNW students.

Join us on April 30 as we work together to foster innovative education, relieve financial burdens and enhance opportunities for our students in an effort to create a ripple effect of positive change that will impact our world.

Who can use this toolkit?

All Purdue University Northwest faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members who are looking for assistance with sharing information about the event can utilize this toolkit.

Your role is to be an ambassador for PNW Day of Giving! The toolkit offers hashtags, logos, photos and a variety of recommended messages to help generate social media content.

The PNW Photoshelter has general campus photos that can be used for #PNWDayofGiving social media posts. Graphics and photos for each of the #PNWDayofGiving posts in the PNW Day of Giving Unit Post Schedule are also available.

To download photos, you must first create an account in Photoshelter using your PNW email.

PNW Day of Giving Unit Post Schedule

The following social media posts have been created to be used as written for PNW social media accounts during the dedicated weeks.

When posting on Instagram, remember that website links won’t be clickable within your posts. Instead, include the link in your bio where it can be clicked. Use phrases like “Give now at the link in our bio!” or “Learn more at the link in our bio!”

To add a link to your Instagram bio, please follow the steps below:

  1. Edit your Instagram profile via your profile page
  2. Add the URL in the Website field

PNW encourages our ambassadors to utilize a variety of different ways of posting on social media accounts, including Instagram and Facebook stories. When posting on Instagram stories, PNW offers the option to use PNW Day of Giving and PNW branded GIPHY stickers, which can be searched in the Instagram story search bar with the following phrases:

  • Talk to your friends, family, and coworkers directly about supporting PNW Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
  • Get creative and share your PNW story with your friends and followers. Don’t forget to include the #PNWDayofGiving and #PowerOnward hashtags!

PNW Day of Giving Social Media Challenges 2025

  • Most creative PNW Day of Giving photo | 11 a.m. to Noon
    • Participate in this challenge by posting a creative and unique post about PNW Day of Giving on Facebook. The most creative post will win a bonus of $500. Tag Purdue Northwest and include #PNWDayofGiving along with your program hashtag/handle.
  • 30th “Why Give” Post | 4:30 p.m.
    • Participate in this challenge by posting why to give to your unit on Instagram. The 30th post at 4:30 p.m. will win a bonus of $500. Tag Purdue Northwest and include #PNWDayofGiving along with your program hashtag/handle

PNW Day of Giving Power Hours 2025

  • Random Faculty & Staff Donor | 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Participate in this hour by donating to your favorite PNW unit! One lucky faculty or staff member will be randomly selected, and $500 in bonus funds will be awarded to the unit where they made their gift.
  • Random Alumni Donor | 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Participate in this hour by donating to your favorite PNW unit! One PNW Alumni will be randomly selected, and $500 in bonus funds will be awarded to the unit where they made their gift.

Chancellor’s Internal Competitions

  • Beat Your Best
    • The unit with the largest percent increase in the number of gifts from 2024 to 2025 will win $2,000 in bonus funds.
  • Most Dollars Raised
    • The unit with the most funds raised will win $2,000 in bonus funds.
  • Most Gifts Raised
    • The unit with the most gifts will win $2,000 in bonus funds.

Rules and Guidelines

  • Participating social media accounts must follow the rules below to be considered to win bonus funds.
  • Official PNW-affiliated social media accounts must be registered with the PNW Marketing & Communications Department.
    • To register your account or check your account status, please email Kayla Ooms at khoffert@pnw.edu.
  • Personal social media accounts for alumni, donors, friends, parents, faculty, staff, retirees and businesses can participate in these challenges but must also follow the rules and guidelines below.
  • Social media account must be public
  • Social media account must follow the official Purdue Northwest social media account
  • All social media posts must include the following items in their post
    • #PNWDayofGiving
    • Official program hashtag
    • Official program handle
    • Tag the official social media account for Purdue Northwest (@PurdueNorthwest)

Winners

  • Social Media Competitions
    • Winners for the PNW Day of Giving Social Media contests will be announced on PNW Day of Giving via the official Purdue Northwest social media account.
    • The Development team will help transfer bonus funds.
  • Chancellor’s Internal Competitions
    • Winners for the PNW Day of Giving Social Media contests will be contacted by the Development team.
    • The Development team will help transfer bonus funds.
