Late Night Hours at The Arboretum

July 20 @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Firefly Viewing

Experience the magic of summer nights at the Arboretum with hundreds of fireflies flashing through the sky!

Bring your family and friends along to marvel at the wonder of these glowing winged beetles (also known as lightning bugs).

Gabis Arboretum will remain open until 10 p.m.

This is an unguided event.

Visitors can walk the prairie and watch the thousands of fireflies or stargaze. Gabis Arboretum has very little light pollution at night so it’s a great place to enjoy nighttime wildlife. Bring a flashlight if needed. We will have all the lights turned off to reduce light pollution. There will be a staff member present on the property that will close the gate at 10 p.m., so please leave by 10 p.m.

If you need to contact a staff member while on the property at night, please call (219) 989-8492. Regular entrance fees apply.

Event Policy: This program is free. Non-members must pay an arboretum admission fee of $10 per carload for entry.
