SARA Standing for Online Master’s in Nursing Program
State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) initiative and PNW’s participation.
Standing with State and Professional Licensing Board with “Physical Presence” Consideration
DISCLAIMER: As of March 2, 2015, Purdue University Northwest became an institutional participant in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) initiative.
SARA is overseen by a National Council and administered by four regional education compacts including Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE), Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), and Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE).
States participating in the SARA initiative will be identified below as “SARA State”. Because SARA states agree to impose no additional (non-SARA) requirements on SARA institutions, individual state higher education governing bodies will not be identified for SARA states.
SARA does not deal with professional licensing board approval for programs leading to state licensing in the field of nursing, etc. and, therefore, we cannot confirm whether or not this program meets licensure requirements in a student’s state of residence.
Students in an online program leading to professional licensure will need to check with the appropriate licensing board in their state to verify that the course meets the requirement for licensure.
We will provide the link to the state boards of nursing to assist students with obtaining that information from their state board of nursing. And, please click here for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
