Bylaws Amendment: Removal of Term Limits for Chairs of Standing Committees

Whereas: The Bylaws of the PNW Faculty Senate currently state:

Each committee shall elect a Chair, prior to the last regular Senate meeting, who shall hold that office for a one-year term, and is eligible for reelection once.

And,

Whereas: It has proved difficult to fill the positions of Chairs of the standing committees with this restriction in place, and

Whereas: It is to the advantage of the Senate to have experienced faculty members in the positions of Chairs of the standing committees, therefore,

Be it Resolved: The Bylaws shall be amended to remove the word “once,” so the cited sentence instead reads as follows:

Each committee shall elect a Chair, prior to the last regular Senate meeting, who shall hold that office for a one-year term, and is eligible for reelection.
