Whereas: The Purdue University Northwest Faculty Senate has formally approved the Purdue University Northwest administration’s request to move the deadline for reporting final grades from noon on the Wednesday following finals week to 5 pm on the Tuesday following finals week, and

Whereas: This gives the faculty less time in which to complete the important task of grading final exams and papers and calculating final grades, and

Whereas: Relief from committee work at the end of each semester would allow faculty members to use their time, and focus their energies, on grading, thus allowing them to meet the new, shorter, deadline for submitting final grades,

Be it resolved: The Purdue Northwest Faculty Senate requests that committee work for faculty members be held to an absolute minimum from the beginning of finals week through the deadline for grade submission, while noting that the Senate itself is scheduled for the Friday at the end of that week.   The Senate further respectfully asks the PNW Leadership Team to advise Deans, Department Chairs, and other administrators to abide by this request.
