Resolution to Require Experiential Learning as a Graduation Requirement for Purdue University Northwest
WHEREAS: Article III, Section B.2, of the Constitution of the Faculty of Purdue University Northwest grants to the Faculty the authority “To review and approve the general requirements for the curricula of Purdue University Northwest leading toward undergraduate academic degrees,” and
WHEREAS: Article III, Section B.4, of the Constitution of the Faculty of Purdue University Northwest grants to the Faculty the authority to “To develop curricula and course content,” and
WHEREAS: the Faculty of Purdue University Northwest values experiential education as an important aspect of the academic preparation of students for their careers and for life, and
WHEREAS: the faculty subscribe to the national standards of good practice adopted by the National Society of Experiential Learning (NSEE); and
WHEREAS: the university has pledged new and ongoing administrative support for experiential education, including but not limited to creating experiential learning opportunities, risk management, website or other information maintenance, and other administrative support activities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: Purdue University Northwest, as an indication of support for experiential learning (EL), will require one (1) experiential learning course for all students graduating with a baccalaureate degree from the institution, beginning with students admitted for Fall 2017.
