Exploring the Depths of Mathematics
Nicoleta Tarfulea is a professor of mathematics in the PNW Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Professor Tarfulea’s research focuses on mathematical biology, partial differential equations and computational mathematics.
Her work relates to the development and analysis of biological processes that range from the subcellular molecular systems and cellular behavior to physiological problems, population biology, and developmental biology.
A substantial portion of her efforts are always focused on involving students in extracurricular activities, such as mathematical competitions and research. She has mentored over 40 students in a variety of internally and externally sponsored research projects.
Her students have presented their collaborative work at local, regional, and national events, and have published numerous research papers.
