Graduate Requirements
What’s Required?
- An application for admission to Purdue University Northwest as a non-degree-seeking graduate student. In the online application, leave the “Area of Interest” field blank and select “Teacher License” in the “Degree Objective” field.
- Official transcript: You will need to provide official copies of transcripts from every university/college attended to date. If you upload the transcript, it is not an official transcript. For more information on official transcripts, please see the Graduate Studies Office Transcript Page.
- Copy of your teaching license (if applicable)
- A minimum 3.0 GPA in previous coursework
- Successful completion of the basic skills assessment OR a master’s degree
- Interview
- For fall admission, interviews occur in March.
- For spring admission, interviews occur in October.

- Three recommendation letters. Appropriate sources for recommendations include professors familiar with your work or people in a supervisory role, such as administrators, program coordinators, mentor teachers and supervising teachers.
- Interview
- For fall admission, interviews occur in March.
- For spring admission, interviews occur in October.

- Submit a T2T Application through the School of Education and Counseling’s online portal. As part of the T2T Application, you will be required to upload a Statement of Teaching and Learning Philosophy.
- Meet testing requirements
- Basic skills competency (i.e., GRE, CASA, ACT or SAT scores)
- Core content area assessment for which licensure is being sought
- You will need to provide official copies of transcripts from every university/college attended to date. If you upload the transcript, it is not an official transcript. For more information on official transcripts, please see the Graduate Studies Office Transcript Page.
- Interview
- For fall admission, interviews occur in March.
- For Spring admission, interviews occur in October.

- Admissions supplement. This document provides information on why you are pursuing the license and/or degree. This document will replace the “Statement of Purpose” listed in the application.
