    CIVS Ph.D. Student Won Best Student Presentation in a Global Research Event

    Yuchao Chen, CIVS Ph.D. student, won the “Best Student Presentation” Award at the 7th ArcelorMittal Global R&D CFD & Thermo-Mechanics Days. Yuchao delivered a presentation titled “Integrated CFD Model for the EAF” on February 24th, disseminating his research to expert iron and steelmaking researchers as a part of the event.

    CIVS Showcased at the 7th ArcelorMittal Global R&D CFD & Thermo-Mechanics Days

    CIVS Director and students had the opportunity to showcase CIVS’ research achievements in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics at the 7th annual ArcelorMittal Global R&D CFD & Thermo-Mechanics Days. This virtual event took place between February 22nd and February 25th, 2022, with the goal of sharing information about iron and steelmaking research with expert research colleagues across the world, from Canada, Brazil, Belgium, France, and more.

    CIVS Hydrogen Research Published in JOM

    JOM, The Journal of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), published a CIVS research paper entitled “Blast Furnace Hydrogen Injection: Investigating Impacts and Feasibility with Computational Fluid Dynamics” authored by CIVS Research Associate Professor Tyamo Okosun in collaboration with CIVS graduate student, Samuel Nielson, and CIVS Director, Prof. Chenn Zhou.

    Info Session on 2/15 for Teacher Funding Opportunity!

    A virtual info session will be held Tuesday, February 15 at 3:30pm about an NSF-sponsored funding opportunity for High School STEM teachers. A $6,150 stipend is available for teachers to participate in a 6-week "Research Experiences for Teachers" program at Purdue Northwest's Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS).

    CIVS announces Second Round of RET Program in Summer 2022

    After highly successful Research Experience for Teachers (RET) Program in 2021, CIVS will once again open its doors to the High School and Community College teachers in the summer of 2022. The second RET Program, sponsored by National Science Foundation through a three-year grant, will take place from June 13th – July 22nd, 2022 at the RET site established at CIVS on the Purdue University Northwest Hammond Campus.
