CIVS Welcomes Representatives from Gopher Resource to Purdue Northwest
As part of the ongoing collaboration between CIVS and Gopher Resource, CIVS recently welcomed two members of Gopher Resource to visit the Center at the Purdue Northwest campus in Hammond, Indiana on May 16. VP and Chief Technology Officer Joe Grogan and Senior R&D Engineer Allie Anderson were provided a walking overview of the CIVS facilities as well as a look at past CIVS works. Senior Research Engineer at CIVS Nicholas Walla used the Immersive Theater to showcase a wide variety of past CIVS projects ranging from detailed simulations of complex industrial processes to immersive training software using virtual reality. The visit concluded with a meeting to discuss the current and future stages of the Lead Reverberatory Furnace project.
Gopher Resource—located in Eagan, MN, and Tampa, FL—is a recycler of lead-acid batteries. Gopher and CIVS have been working together to create a simulation model of their lead reverberatory furnace, used to process and extract lead from recycled lead-acid batteries. Last month, Gopher invited CIVS members Armin Silaen, Nicholas Walla, and Chenn Zhou to visit their Eagan facility and tour the processing center.
