CIVS Students Showcased Their Research Work

CIVS researchers and students participated in the PNW Days of Discovery event on April 7, 2022, with 22 posters and an oral presentation. The students showcased their current research work and got recognized by the PNW students and faculty. All CIVS Senior Design I and II teams attended the event and presented the results of their hard work over the course of a year or semester.

The 22 outstanding posters were also viewed by professionals, engineers, managers, and researchers from SMSVC during the SMSVC semi-annual conference. To encourage the students to make a difference in their future research endeavors, the following three awards were presented at the event

  • 1st Place: John Rosser: Reducing CO2 Emissions in Ironmaking: A Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis
  • 2nd Place: Emily Higley: Can we Beat the Heat? Induction vs. Combustion for Steel Reheating
  • 3rd Place: Ravi Singhal: E-design of Software to Train for Safety in Industry
