CIVS Highlighted at 23rd IAS Steel Conference 2021

On December 1, 2021, CIVS researcher Haibo Ma and his co-presenter, CIVS graduate research assistant, Vitalis Anisiuba, presented virtually at 23rd IAS Steel Conference 2021. The title of the presentation is “Modeling of Air-Mist Spray in Continuous Casting of Steel”.

Their study involves numerical modeling and simulation of air mist spray cooling in continuous casting using real casting condition to study the effect of air pressure and casting speed on the heat transfer coefficient at the secondary cooling region just after the mold section. The slab surface temperature is at 1473K while the cooling water temperature is maintained at 300K. The results from the study would provide guidance for the operation of air-mist spray.
