Promotion of Dr. Tyamo Okosun Dr. Armin Silaen
Congratulations to Dr. Armin Silaen and Dr. Tyamo Okosun for being promoted from Senior Research Engineer to Research Associate Professors at Purdue Northwest University.
Dr. Armin K. Silaen joined CIVS at Purdue University Northwest in 2011. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of New Orleans in Mechanical Engineering. Armin used to work as a Senior Research Engineer who leads industrial research projects involving multiphase reacting flow in CIVS, organizes the SMSVC Project Technical Committee monthly meetings for Electrical Arc Furnace, Refining Ladle, Continuous Casting, and Reheating Furnace projects, and mentors a number of undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Tyamo Okosun has worked at CIVS since 2011. He is currently serving as an engineering team leader, managing applied research on industry-supported projects, providing guidance to graduate student teams, and contributing directly to optimization and analysis efforts on several projects. Technical work includes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of various heavy industry processes (blast furnaces, direct reduction ironmaking, ladle refining, wind turbine aerodynamics, and more).
