CIVS to Collaborate with Gopher Resource and Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Secondary Lead Reverberatory Furnace Optimization

CIVS researchers are to collaborate with Gopher Resource and Worcester Polytechnic Institute to develop a CFD simulation of a Gopher Resource’s secondary lead reverberatory furnace. The simulation will provide good understanding of the heat transfer to the burden in the furnace and ways to maximize it. It will allow Gopher Resource to optimize the furnace operation, further improving its safe and efficient recycling of lead batteries throughout North America.
