Dear Colleagues,

I would like to take this opportunity to provide campus-wide updates on the current national searches for the Deans of CES and CHESS as well as a new initiative to launch a Women’s Faculty Network.

1. CES Dean Search

The deadline for full consideration was Monday, December 2, although the position will remain open until it is filled. We are excited that we attracted a robust applicant pool and received over 80 applications.

The position description and list of search committee members can be found here: Dean Search: College of Engineering and Sciences – Academic Affairs – Purdue University Northwest. The search committee is currently reviewing applications and is expected to narrow the list to 8-10 semifinalists for Zoom interviews that will be held in early January.

We anticipate the campus interviews with the finalists will occur in mid- to late January. As part of the campus interviews, all faculty and staff will be invited to an open forum (details will be forthcoming). We hope to select the new CES Dean in February 2025, who would start by early Summer 2025.

2. CHESS Dean Search

The position description was finalized right before the Thanksgiving holiday and has a January 8 deadline for full consideration. We ask that you please share this position broadly with your networks.

For nominations, applications, and inquiries, please email PNWDeanCHESS@agbsearch.com or the AGB Search consultants assisting us with this search: Drs. Sally Mason (sally.mason@agbsearch.com) and Garry W. Owens (garry.owens@agbsearch.com).

The search committee (which can be found here: Dean Search: College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences – Academic Affairs – Purdue University Northwest) received its official charge last week. It will begin reviewing applications after the break, and conduct Zoom interviews with an anticipated 8-10 semifinalists in early February. Campus interviews with the finalists should be held late February, during which time all faculty and staff will be invited to an open forum.

We hope to select the new CHESS Dean in March 2025, who would also start in early Summer 2025.

3. Women’s Faculty Network

Last Friday (December 6), I held a coffee networking meeting with women faculty who responded to an email invitation I sent to gauge interest in having such a meeting. The response and turnout were amazing, with faculty from all five academic colleges. The Chancellor gave welcoming remarks, and the discussions were excellent and informative.

I am working to schedule a second meeting in Westville, and then will plan on next steps that will involve drafting bylaws to institutionalize some form of a Women’s Faculty Network. This network would be open to all PNW faculty who would support the network’s mission. There will be more information forthcoming as our plans develop.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the work you have done to make Fall 2024 such a successful semester for your college, our university, and most importantly, for our students. I (and our graduating students) look forward to seeing you tomorrow at commencement!

Sincerely,

Marie Mora
