Each month, faculty are invited to join a meeting where we can openly discuss the promotion and tenure (P&T) process. These gatherings are designed to be informal and conversational, allowing participants to:

  • Ask and answer questions about the P&T process.
  • Share personal experiences and helpful resources.
  • Engage in discussions on a variety of P&T-related topics.

To accommodate diverse schedules and preferences, our meetings will alternate between in-person sessions (with a remote participation option) and fully remote meetings via Zoom. This flexibility provides the opportunity to connect with colleagues in-person, while also ensuring that all interested faculty can join the conversation, no matter their location or circumstances.

At our first meeting of the academic year, we will solicit suggestions for discussion topics to ensure the sessions are relevant and valuable. Each subsequent meeting will focus on a specific topic, while also providing time for free conversation on any related issues. This approach balances structured discussion with the freedom to explore emergent questions and ideas.

In response to participants’ interests, the Center for Faculty Excellence can arrange for guest speakers or focused presentations. These sessions may include demonstrations of tools and resources involved in the P&T process, offering deeper insights and practical guidance.

Meetings are open to all faculty members and instructors, including those who are:

  • on the tenure-track,
  • seeking promotion to Professor,
  • are in a promotable position, and/or
  • are seeking a tenure-track and/or promotable teaching position.
