Announcing PNW’s New Strategic Plan: Excellence Evolving: 2025–2030

April 14, 2025

Dear PNW Students, Faculty and Staff:

Purdue University Northwest is committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities while driving cultural and economic development in our greater Northwest Indiana region. I am excited to share our new strategic plan, “Excellence Evolving: 2025-2030,” which will serve as a road map for university priorities over the next five years.

The strategic plan articulates our bold vision to cultivate leaders, inspire excellence and impact our world. Importantly, our mission emphasizes that our students are at the heart of all we do at PNW. Our values demonstrate what is most important to us as a university community and reflect our commitment to Respect, Innovation, a Student Centric university, and Excellence (RISE), which guide us toward an evolving and bright future.

I am especially proud that the strategic plan was developed through a collaborative process that engaged students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Hundreds of people participated in interactive meetings and open forum sessions to provide input and offer feedback on the various drafts, leading to the finalized plan you can now read at pnw.edu/strategic-plan.

I would like to thank Becky Stankowski and Yu Ouyang for their diligent work in chairing the Strategic Planning Steering Committee over the past year, along with all members of the committee. As a next step, a Strategic Implementation and Action Committee is coming together to draw up action steps to achieve the five key goals outlined in the strategic plan. Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Marie Mora is leading this effort, which will begin this month. More information about that team and its charge will be shared before the end of this semester.

At PNW, we truly are transforming lives, our region and our world. That’s Powering Onward.

Sincerely,

PNW Chancellor Kenneth "Chris" Holford
