A Life Changing Experience: Fall 2020 Graduate Emily Weber-Brokke
Emily Weber-Brokke graduates this fall with degrees in political science and Spanish. During her time at Purdue University Northwest, Weber-Brokke had the opportunity to participate in student organizations and academic endeavors that helped shaped her career path.
She attended both the Model United Nations Conference and the Model Illinois Government Conference. Emily credits her conference attendance and faculty mentor Meg Rincker for challenging her and providing her with the confidence to speak publicly and present her ideas.
One of her most pivotal experiences at PNW has been the chance to study abroad. In May 2019 Weber-Brokke traveled to Cáceres, Spain. She was able to tour many cities in Spain while becoming immersed in the life and language.
She stated, “It was a life-changing experience and it has heavily influenced my career goals.”
Eventually, after the international travel restrictions loosen, Weber-Brokke plans to move to Spain to teach English. For now she plans to work on earning her TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language certification) and plans to teach online.
